How to get involved!
We recognize that knowledge and skills held within local communities can very much enhance and help the work we do. To engage with this we have created a volunteer programme.
What is the volunteer progamme?
The programme has been set up so volunteering has benefit both to the volunteer and the service. There is a structure to work volunteers do with clearly defined tasks set by the archive team and dedicated time timetabled in for the volunteer to work on their tasks and projects.
Staff mentors
Each volunteer will have a mentor from the staff at the heritage hub to provide support and expertise.
What type of tasks are volunteers asked to do?
You could be asked to assist with box listing of new collections, doing some research for an exhibition or catalogue entry or help with routine conservation tasks. You will not be asked to fulfill any professional service duties of the staff at the Heritage Hub.
Friends of the Heritage Hub
If you can’t volunteer but would still like to be involved we are setting up a friends group who will meet once every two months(?) who will bring like-minded supporters together and assist the centre with new ideas, talks and fundraising initiatives.
