Burnfoot Reminiscence Baking Day
In June 2008 Hawick High School students and Burnfoot residents participated in a Reminiscence baking day.
This project was run in collaboration with Hawick High School and NHS Burnfoot. 1st year and 3rd year pupils interviewed older residents of Burnfoot about their youth in Hawick: what clothes they wore, what they did in the evenings and at weekends, what it was like to be young in Hawick during the War.
Students visited the Heritage Hub in the morning to tour the building and look at recipes in the archive.
In the afternoon the students and residents gathered at Hawick High School to make old-fashioned drop scones and contemporary summer berry muffins, while chatting about times past and present.
