Borders Textile Towerhouse Tom Scott Gallery displays a selection of paintings by the celebrated Borders artist, as well as touchscreen access to the museum’s wider collection of his work.
Tom Scott RSA (1854–1927) was born in Selkirk. He was a prolific painter, best known for his atmospheric Borders landscapes and historical scenes. He is now recognised as one of Scotland's finest watercolourists.
At Borders Textile Towerhouse, we display a selection of Scott’s works in the Tom Scott Gallery – formerly the reading room of the Tower Hotel. Tom Scott was a frequent visitor to this room, and sometimes paid his bills with paintings.
